Lenovo PCs ship with man-in-the-middle adware that breaks HTTPS connections [Updated]

This is serious malware that completely compromises their computers and they had no business having it preinstalled like that.  I'd never buy this brand, because I could not trust them to not install other malware in the future.

Ars got it right.

I did a Google search for >Superfish< and it returned 884,000 hits.

I kind of suspected the problem would extend much further. So far here is where it's showing up and it's likely to spread.

From my how to geek newsletter: due to a changing marketplace The Only Safe Place to Buy a Windows PC is the Microsoft Store http://www.howtogeek.com/210249/the-only-safe-place-to-buy-a-windows-pc-is-the-microsoft-store/

Great, just.... Suspect

Thanks, but I'll pass on that Signature PC and keep buying OEM to build my own. Then all I have to do is deal with the theft that is called ISP service, out here in flyover country :-(

In spite of the title, they did suggest that as one of the viable options still.
