Post by Samt03 on Wed Aug 27, 2014 1:39 pm

So for a while I've been wanting to get a group together and work on 'The Highly Sensitive Person's Workbook' as a group.

This book for anyone who doesn't know: http://www.hsperson.com/books/the-highly-sensitive-person-workbook/

What I'd like to do is find out who from here would like to do a group first off, and around when would be good for everyone. I'm leaning towards November as it gives us all time to get the book, and figure out how we want to set up a work group, if we wanna do something like weekly meetings in the chat box here and stuff like that. (An actual discussion thread for the group will be set up as well in one of the forums only registered users can view.)

If anyone is interested please let me know in this thread so I get an idea of who in all is interested.

I'm interested, but I don't know how much free time I'll have in November with uni and stuff.

If we went slow with it, like every other week or something would that give you enough time?

I still need to get the workbook myself and look over how it's broken down to figure out how to set this all up. When I get it I'll check and see how long each section is, and about how long it should take to work on.

Copying a quote from the site about what the workbook is about:

The Highly Sensitive Person’s Workbook includes the material that Dr. Aron, renowned for work with HSPs, says she “would have provided in a course, a personal consultation, or a support group” if she were able to personally meet the almost fifty million HSPs in America today. This material focuses on six specific needs Aron sees as being common to anyone who is highly sensitive:

Basic knowledge about your trait
Reframing your life
Healing past traumas
Self-care
Integrating the trait with specific aspects of life
Getting to know other HSPs

I wanna update this thread a bit.

I wont be able to start this till after the 9th of November cause I'll be out of town till then.

The week after then we can start so there's still time for people to get the book if they need it.

(I'll cross post this to the facebook group shortly.)

Hey Sam! Not sure if I'll be able to do this straightaway ---> graduation mock tests coming up in November, plus other stuff... I'll be busy from November to February, I think.
And there is stuff I wanna do alone before, too.
Is it ok if I join much later?

I'm interested in participating. I've read much of the book in past years. Even used it as a resource for a local monthly HSP meetup group. Lots of good stuff there. Would be great to work with it again.

It would be OK to move at a pace comfortable for all participants.

I clearly have never tried to organize something like this before...

Okay so I got busy irl with nano and an out of town trip so this never started, now I'm looking at being busy till after Christmas, so we're going to go with a new start date. Lets look at starting this December 28th, in the evening my time for those who can be online then, if everyone can't there will be a thread as well aside from a hopeful live chat. The live chat is going to be from 8pm est us (gmt -5) and run for about two hours, we'll see how it goes from there and change it if we have to.

Again this is the book: http://www.amazon.com/The-Highly-Sensitive-Persons-Workbook/dp/0767903374

If you need to you can order it now and it should be in before we start.

Side Note:
You do not need to read The Highly Sensitive Person to do the workbook, it can be a stand alone.

Hey I'm just poking you two to see if you can take part in this at the date I have set or not. If you can I'll adjust the time for the live chat so you can both be in it. I don't wanna accidentally cut out people who are interested cause of the time zone issue.

Welcome Colossal Jane, glad you made it over. Have a look around the board while you're here--lots of gems to find.

Welcome, glad to see another person joining us.

No e-mail address needed, the board actually has an internal messaging system called PMs/messages so people can talk privately. It will actually send you an alert to let you know when you have new PM if you have that setting checked.

Will the time I have set up work for you for the live chat?

Thank you, kindly. I am new to the site. 8 PM EST on Sunday--December 28th, right? I believe that will work just fine for me. We begin the workbook that day, in group or before? Also, will the live chat be on this website?

Yep, EST.

For the workbook if everyone could read the first chapter, and look over the questions. What we'll do is talk about any thoughts we have on the chapter, and the questions in the live chat, and like compare answers and stuffs.

The live chat will be here. If you look at the main page you'll see a bit white box that says log in, that's the chat box. Hitting log in will load the chat and you can talk to peoples in it.
