I thought it was a good way to come to terms with old wounds and past oppressions.

It is; it can be quite theraputic. The letter also seemed to speak to larger societal issues going on at the various times and how a young man who was destined not to fit in found his place.

Thanks, nucky. It's really thoughtful and beautiful, and somehow just what I needed to read I think (not sure why). I'll be thinking about it.
